Founded by licensed mental health professionals with extensive experience in Washington’s L&I system, Washington Mental Health Services was created to meet the unique needs of injured workers. Our team brings more than a decade of combined experience supporting individuals through complex recoveries; emotionally, physically, and psychologically. We understand how isolating and challenging the workers’ compensation process can be, and some of us have experienced it firsthand. That lived experience strengthens our empathy and deepens our commitment to those we serve.
We specialize in telehealth counseling for individuals navigating workplace injuries, working collaboratively with your medical providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care. Whether you’re coping with chronic pain, trauma from the injury, or the stress of managing treatment, claims, and return-to-work pressures, we are here to walk alongside you. Our counseling supports challenges such as anxiety, uncertainty about recovery, strain on relationships, fear of re-injury, isolation, and grief over changes in daily life.
These experiences can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone. We provide a safe, confidential space where you can openly share your thoughts and emotions with a trained professional who listens without judgment. Our goal is not only to offer effective counseling, but to help you rebuild resilience, reclaim your strength, and rediscover a sense of hope, dignity, and purpose as you heal.

WA Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) allows all injured workers to receive 16 counseling sessions, known as BHI, without any prior approval needed. No mental health diagnosis is necessary. It is confidential, at no cost to you, and all you need is your doctor's referral.
If needed, counseling of longer duration can be attained by completing a mental health evaluation with a psychologist or psychiatrist, receiving a mental health diagnosis, and L&l's determination that the mental health diagnosis is claim related. With L&I's approval, you can get more in-depth and long-term treatment with your therapist as well as medication management with a psychiatrist if desired.
